Rain Bird releases summer training schedule

The company is offering irrigation events, including boot camp, IA review and factory-trained courses.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Rain Bird Training Services has released its schedule of irrigation training events for Summer 2016. These events offer irrigation professionals the chance to improve their knowledge bases, receive Irrigation Association (IA) continuing education credits (CEUs) and even prepare for IA certification exams.

“While summer is a busy time for irrigation professionals, the courses we offer can quickly prepare them for on-the-job challenges and position them for greater success,” said Paul Lierheimer, director of Rain Bird’s contractor division. “By attending Rain Bird Services training events, individuals of all skill levels can take their careers to the next level while helping their customers use less water in the pursuit of beautiful, healthy landscapes.”

Rain Bird Academy Boot Camp
Rain Bird Academy’s popular boot camps consist of four courses that provide general irrigation skills training on products from various manufacturers. Each boot camp course is designated as “IA Select,” a status reserved for training that adheres to the IA’s best management practice standards in irrigation system design, installation and maintenance. These non-manufacturer-specific courses provide attendees with the CEUs that they may need to maintain their statuses as “Select Certified” members of the IA or review for the IA Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) exam. Boot camps will take place in Sunrise, Florida, on June 20-24; Sacramento, California, on July 18-22; and Walnut, California, on August 15-19.

IA review courses
Rain Bird Services will also host IA review courses designed to help individuals review for three of the IA’s certification exams. Rain Bird Training Services IA review classes are designed to cover those components which have traditionally given candidates the most trouble on the exams. (No single class will completely prepare a candidate for any Irrigation Association certification exam; only individual study will cover 100 percent of the information needed.)

Courses offered during the summer of 2016 include specialized reviews for the following certifications: Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA), Certified Irrigation Designer (CID) and Certified Irrigation Consultant (CIC). Courses will be held in Orlando, Florida, on May 23-27; Sacramento, California, on June 13-17; Walnut, California, on July 11-15; and Chicago, Illinois, on August 1-5.

Rain Bird factory trained program
Rain Bird factory trained classes provide comprehensive training on Rain Bird products and help attendees become experts on installing, managing and maintaining Rain Bird irrigation systems. Rain Bird factory trained designations are offered in these categories: Rain Bird factory trained Installer (residential and central control systems), Rain Bird factory trained operator (all Rain Bird control systems, including commercial and golf) and Rain Bird factory trained technician (all Rain Bird control systems, including commercial and golf).

Due to the hands-on nature of these classes, space is limited. Rain Bird factory trained classes will take place in Bakersfield, California, on May 23-27; Dallas, Texas, on June 27-28; Houston, Texas, on June 30-July 1; Austin, Texas, on June 30-July 1; Tucson, Arizona, (3 sessions) on July 12-14, September 7-8 and September 19-23; San Antonio, Texas, on August 4-5; Riverside, California, on August 22-23; and Rancho Mirage, California, on August 25-26.

“Individuals who attend Rain Bird factory trained courses and pass a written exam will earn the Rain Bird factory trained designation and use of our special factory-trained logo,” said John Sais, senior technical trainer with Rain Bird Services. “Earning this designation is an excellent way to promote yourself as a Rain Bird expert in your local area.”

Customized on-site training
Rain Bird Services also offers on-site, customized training that’s ideal for medium and large-sized irrigation contractors, public agencies and irrigation distributors.

“We understand that it’s not always possible for people who need training to come to us,” Our instructors travel to your location and provide training on only the products you use,” said Jeremy Mansell, senior technical trainer for Rain Bird Services.  “When you set up an on-site training event, our instructors come to you and provide specific training on the products you use. It’s often a cost-saving option, particularly for businesses or organizations that need to train a larger number of people on specific products and practices.”

“For more than a decade, we’ve offered professional irrigation training that has helped thousands launch or enhance their irrigation careers,” said Robert Pfeil, marketing group manager for Rain Bird Services. “Our programs continue to grow and evolve, and we firmly believe that’s due to the quality training we deliver consistently, year after year.”
