How to promote maintained lawns

NALP has published tips for contractors when approaching people opposed to landscape and lawn care.

The National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) has new suite of materials, called the Root of Happiness, was developed by NALP's Public Affairs Advisory Council to promote the value of healthy lawns and landscapes and the pros that take care of them. All the materials are available to everyone in the industry – not just NALP members.

The messaging was created by a cross section of landscape and lawn care experts and technical advisors and they are based on years of research and research from partners like RISE (from consumer focus groups) and other sources. NALP has distilled down the best messages, facts and figures to make the case for the benefits of professionally managed landscapes.

We are continuing to see battles at the local, state and Federal level where jurisdictions are trying to over-regulate or ban leaf blowers, pesticide and fertilizer use and are doing so based on inaccurate information. These fact sheets and videos are perfect materials to share with anyone from customers to school groups, to HOA’s to city councils to legislators. NALP believes that when the whole industry shares the same messaging, that consumers will support the industry.

The following materials are available to all and can be downloaded from the NALP website:
Guide to myths and misperceptions about landscapes – This useful resource helps readers separate fact from fiction about the industry. Topics covered include the importance of managed landscapes, why weeds are harmful, the truth about pesticides and more.
