University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture to host turf field day

The university’s field day will take place Aug. 30 for turf and landscape management professionals.


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture is hosting its annual Turf and Ornamental Field Day on Aug. 30 at the university’s East Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. This year’s event is expected to attract up to 500 turf and athletic field professionals.

Designed to address topics primarily of interest to turf and landscape management professionals, faculty supporting the Turf and Ornamental Field Day will present short seminars on topics such as:

• Weed management

• Fungicide management

• Zoysia grass putting greens for the transition zone

• Hybrid turfgrass systems for Tennessee sports fields

• Integrated pest management overview

• Ball rebound and other ways to test athletic fields

Additional activities will include a weed control walk, an equipment trade show (with live demonstrations) and demonstrations of hydrangeas, plantable containers and soil moisture sensors for landscape applications.

Several continuing education options will be available to guests. Attendees will be able to receive recertification credits in various categories, depending on their state of residence and employment. International Society of Arboriculture credits and Golf Course Superintendents Association of America credits will be offered.

Preregistration is available online for $65 prior to Aug. 16 and for $75 after that date. On-site registration is available on the day of the event. All attendees will receive breakfast and lunch from the event’s sponsors. Click here for registration information.
