Roger Storey to retire

Troy Bettner will replace Storey and lead the turf and ornamental business of SePRO.

CARMEL, IN – Roger Storey (left), vice president, turf & ornamental business (T&O), has announced his intent to retire from SePRO. Storey has set his final day of active employment with SePRO to be February 28, 2013. Storey is one of the original employees of SePRO Corporation and has been a leader for over 19 years.

When SePRO opened for business on January 2, 1994 the T&O products SePRO offered consisted of only three products (A-Rest Plant Growth Regulator, Pipron Fungicide and Rubigan E.C. Fungicide), which were sold primarily in the greenhouse/horticultural business.

Storey’s vision was to build a T&O business that was active in the golf, landscape and nursery businesses and that could be a substantial contributor to SePRO’s success. To make this vision a reality, Storey assumed the role of director of business development for several years, searching for new products and technologies to license or acquire.

The result of these efforts were the licensing and introduction of Akari Miticide, Cutless Turf Growth Regulator, Cutless Granular Landscape Growth Regulator, Decree Fungicide, Edgeless Turf Growth Regulator, Galleon Aquatic Herbicide, Hachi-Hachi Insecticide, Legacy Turf Growth Regulator, Musketeer Turf Growth Regulator, Ornazin Botanical Insecticide, Octane Herbicide, Talus Insecticide, Topflor Liquid and Granular Ornamental Growth Regulator and most recently Preferal Microbial Insecticide.

Today the T&O business for SePRO has close to 40 products that it sells into the golf, nursery and landscape markets and is one of SePRO’s fastest growing business segments.

In addition to Storey’s role as vice president, turf & ornamental business, he has served 10 years as a member of the SePRO Management Committee and has been responsible for all of SePRO’s International sales in Europe, Japan, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, Kenya, Australia, Israel and Brazil.

"Roger has contributed significantly to the success of SePRO Corporation, his work as a member of management and his leadership in the T&O business will be missed. Roger has not only been a dedicated SePRO employee, he has been a friend to those who have worked with him. He has been a strong example of hard work, commitment and loyalty, and has demonstrated the high ethical values we wish to exhibit at SePRO. On behalf of the Board of Directors and Management Committee I would like to sincerely thank Roger for his strong contributions to SePRO and wish he and his family well as they pursue new life opportunities," said Bill Culpepper, president & CEO.

Storey and his wife Cindy plan to spend more quality time together, support their daughter Megan in her college pursuits and pursue other personal and business opportunities and interests.

Bettner joined SePRO in November 2012 after more than 18 years of experience in sales and marketing management at companies such as Dow Agrosciences, Elanco Division of Eli Lilly & Co., Makhteshim Agan and NuFarm. Culpepper said, "We are excited to have Troy on the SePRO team. We believe his demonstrated leadership and insight will bring value not only to SePRO, but to its customers and to the T&O industry."
