WINSTON- SALEM, NC- Pine Hall Brick, a manufacturer of brick and clay pavers, announced that Walt Steele has been promoted to the newly created position of vice president and chief operating officer. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company.
Fletcher Steele remains as president and chief executive officer and he will focus his efforts on the strategic issues facing the company as well as supporting Walt in his new role.
“As we move toward the 100th anniversary of the company in 2022, it’s important that we have a management team in place that has the energy and capability to grow the company well into our second century of operation,” said Fletcher. “I’m comfortable that the steps announced today will set the stage to make that happen.”
Walt Steele has been with the company since 2011 in a variety of positions with the most recent being paver business manager. Prior to that, Walt held positions at Dow Chemical, Aqua Treat Chemicals and Cardinal Health.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to lead the company and I feel fortunate that we have such a talented management team to work with in order to reach our growth objectives for the future,” said Walt.
He said that part of that growth will come from a number of new business initiatives like thin brick products called ThinClad and PaverTiles.
“My dad initiated our growth expansion in the 1990s by investing in the clay paver market and that proved to be a huge success,” said Walt. “Our team wants to take the lessons learned from that effort and apply it to new ventures in the future.”
Walt Steele is a 2005 graduate of Clemson University with a BS degree in Industrial Engineering. He currently is the co-chair of the Brick Industry Association’s Landscape & Paving Council and also serves on their Market Research & Research Committees.
