Matthews joins Wilson360 as culture practice leader

Shelia Matthews will also serve as the team’s first-ever chief people officer.

Wilson360 has announced that strategy consultant Shelia Matthews has joined its team as culture practice leader and first-ever chief people officer. She will lead people and organizational performance consulting for Wilson360 clients.

Matthews has served diverse industries, including private equity and Fortune 500 firms, before joining the startup world, where she oversaw people operations. During her tenure at Acquisition.com, she scaled the firm from five employees to over 40.

“Building great culture and people management processes can sometimes fall through the cracks during rapid growth,” Matthews says. “Leading organizations are more intentional on people development, focus more on managing talent internally, and reframe hiring practices from filling seats to being strategically selective.”

“Over the past few years, businesses have experienced profound shifts in culture, how they source talent, and how employees work, interact and collaborate to meet new expectations. Shelia’s unique talent will help our CEO clients increase their effectiveness, adapt for a rapidly transforming world of work, and move their organizations forward,” adds Wilson360 CEO, Robert Clinkenbeard.

Although Matthews says she loves the business side of business, she is most passionate about equipping people and organizations with the right mindset, systems and strategies to sustain long-term performance — and workplaces where employees can thrive and ideas are shared freely throughout the company. She strongly believes that leaders must have an understanding of the business in order to build a strong and healthy culture to support it.

“Knowing HR and understanding people isn’t enough. You must be able to translate culture into profitability,” she says. “It’s more affordable to do the right thing for your people than you realize.”

Matthews received an MBA from Colorado State University and graduated with highest honors from the University of North Florida, where she received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She is based in Atlanta, Georgia. She can be reached at sm@culturepro.co.
