ATLANTA, Ga. - The inaugural two-day Lawn & Landscape School of Management drew a capacity crowd of approximately 450 professionals to the industry's newest educational forum.
Popular sessions among the 28 offered at the School of Management included “Attracting and Keeping Good Employees,” by Bill Hoopes of Scotts Lawn Service, “10 Ways to be Successful in the Landscape Industry,” by David Minor of Minor’s Landscape Services, “Identifying New Profit Opportunities,” by Roger Braswell of Southern Tree Landscape Companies and “Managing Growth Effectively,” by Jack Mattingly of Mattingly & Associates.
“It goes without saying that Lawn & Landscape is thrilled by the industry’s response to the program assembled for the School of Management,” noted Cindy Code, group publisher of the Lawn & Landscape Media Group. “In addition, we’re particularly pleased with the tremendous amount of positive feedback we’ve received from attendees and the suggestions they’ve made for how we can improve next year’s event.”
“The variety of topics presented was great along with the concentration on business issues,” commented Josh Keller of Keller’s Turf and Shrub Care.
“I really appreciated the chance to meet other people from the green industry and learning about new ways to make myself a better manager and owner,” added Michael Hornung of Valley Green.
The event’s ability to draw a number of mid-sized contractors also pleased plenty of attendees because of the networking opportunities they found among this group.
“It was nice to be surrounded by other contractors similar in size and sales,” noted Brian Churchill, The Groundskeeper. “Also, the seminars seemed to be geared toward the company around $1 million in sales.
