Heritage Landscape Supply Group, Inc., has acquired Southern Stone Supply, an independent distributor of pavers, natural and manufactured stone, aggregates and other landscape products. The effective date of the transaction is March 26, 2021.
Headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, the company was founded in 2016 by partners Eric Mullen and Tucker Thorpe. Mullen and Thorpe will continue to lead the company under the Southern Stone Supply banner.
“We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to grow our footprint in North Carolina with our first location in the Triangle region,” said Matt McDermott, President of Heritage. “We are fortunate to have Eric, Tucker and their team of customer-focused employees join the Heritage family. Southern Stone Supply will make an ideal addition to our growing footprint across the Southeast.”
“With all that our team has accomplished over the last five years in building the Southern Stone Supply platform, we believe we had a bright future ahead and certainly were not a company that was for sale,” Mullen and Thorpe said. “When Heritage approached us, we listened to their story and vision, and immediately began to see ourselves as growth partners. Heritage shares our passion for the hardscapes industry, and we look forward to partnering together to kick off our next phase of growth in the Carolinas.”
Heritage also recently acquired Scott Stone, a family-owned distributor of pavers, natural and manufactured stone, aggregates and other landscape products.
Headquartered in Mebane, North Carolina, the company was founded in 1985 by the Scott Family and employs a team of more than 30 employees. The company currently operates across three locations in Mebane, Raleigh and Greensboro with over 16 acres of inventory on the ground across the combined platform. Scott’s employee base will continue to run the company going forward.
“I am pleased to announce the acquisition of another great family-owned and operated business,” said Matt McDermott, president of Heritage. “We are honored that Steven and Linda Scott chose to join Heritage over many other options and we look forward to building on the company’s legacy in the coming years. The combined strength of Scott Stone, Southern Stone Supply, and future growth opportunities across the Carolinas will help us create one of the leading landscape supply platforms in the region.”
“The entire Scott Family and Scott Stone team is highly enthusiastic to partner with Heritage,” said Steven and Linda Scott, owners of Scott Stone. “Our customers, suppliers and employees can all look forward to new opportunities and enhanced growth. Teaming up with Heritage and our new partners at Southern Stone Supply will provide for a seamless continuation of the same great service with the same faces and the same determination to be the top service provider in the region.”
