As we head into 2024, I realized I haven’t paid enough attention to the quality work the Lawn & Landscape team has put together in 2023. Once an issue is done, we move onto the next, like maybe some of you do with a project. So, I’m looking back at some of the content you may have missed that could help your business or might just be an interesting read.
Our February cover story chronicled the journey of Sharon Wise, who helped turn around her son’s company, GrassRoots Turf, while battling cancer. Wise could dwell on her bad luck but instead focuses on all the positive aspects of her life. “We all have control of only one thing — our attitude,” she says. “(How do) we react to any given situation? I choose joy.” bit.ly/3sGVmhU
YouTube, TikTok and other social media channels can be hard to keep straight, so in April we spoke to landscaping companies who understand that world and are using it to help their businesses. From recruiting employees to creating a brand, these companies are getting creative on social media. bit.ly/lawnsocial
A website is one of the most common ways customers learn about your company. But just as a nice one can help you get business, a bad one can make a potential client close a tab fast and turn their attention to a different company. In our May issue, a handful of experts weighed in on what you should and shouldn’t do on your company’s website. bit.ly/lawnwebsite
Since we are in the holiday season, what better time to revisit our August story on the latest trends in the holiday lighting world? The story gives a detailed peek into the different times of the year lights go up and how to add it as a service. bit.ly/lawnholiday
Of course, our State of the Industry report in October is always a must read. The numbers were up in this year’s report but check it out to learn what is happening in different parts of the country and how they are solving some of the same problems you are experiencing. bit.ly/2023lawnsoi
While battery-powered equipment is gaining traction in the industry, some are more skeptical about electric trucks. In November, we found three landscaping companies who give an honest look at their experience with an electric fleet and how to introduce them into your company. bit.ly/lawnamp
Stay tuned for what the Lawn & Landscape team has planned for 2024, and we hope you enjoy the holidays and have a Happy New Year. — Brian Horn
