CALABASAS, Calif. – ValleyCrest Landscape celebrated the contributions of three long-time executives, William Cohen, Stanley Colton and George W. Reber, who recently announced retirement plans. More than 150 executives of the Calabasas-based integrated landscape services firm gathered with the retirees’ family and friends at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake to honor these leaders, who collectively represent more than 116 years of tenure, knowledge and industry experience.
According to Burton S. Sperber, founder and chairman of ValleyCrest, “Simply put, the company would not be what it is today without the efforts of these exceptional leaders. Most importantly, each reflects the true meaning of being a part of the ValleyCrest family. I wish them well and thank them for their many years of service and outstanding contributions toward the success of ValleyCrest.”
Colton most recently served as Corporate Vice President, having worked within the construction division in a variety of leadership capacities since he joined ValleyCrest 47 years ago. His background included sales, estimating, contract administration, general administration, insurance and employee benefits, surety, public relations, sales management and employee training. One of Colton’s strongest suits was in business development, focusing on large scale negotiated projects, as well as working in the public sector. Colton’s experience covered a range of projects.
Reber served as vice president, operations of ValleyCrest. He joined the company in 1970, as general superintendent of the Los Angeles branch, overseeing all field operations. He was appointed vice president/branch manager in 1974 in charge of administration, sales, business development and field operations for the branch. He moved to the corporate headquarters in 1994 where he served as vice president/operations for the entire construction division.
Cohen served as Vice President and Corporate Counsel for ValleyCrest Landscape and its subsidiaries. He joined the company in 1980 after serving as an outside attorney and partner with Monteleone & McCrory, a Los Angeles-based firm specializing in construction law. Cohen received a Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola University School of Law in 1971 and was admitted to the California Bar in 1972. A Brooklyn native, he completed undergraduate studies at California State University Northridge and served in Vietnam as an officer in the U.S. Navy.
