Pinpoint fungicide receives registration

The tool for dollar spot control in turfgrass features a new fungicide

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. and MORRISVILLE, N.C. – Valent U.S.A. Corporation and Nufarm have announced that Pinpoint Fungicide has been registered as a new tool for controlling dollar spot in turfgrass. Pinpoint optimizes disease management programs for golf course superintendents and turf lawn care operators by providing consistent turf quality throughout the season while helping combat dollar spot resistance.

The active ingredient in Pinpoint is mandestrobin, a new strobilurin (Qol) fungicide that specifically controls dollar spot. Pinpoint is effective against dollar spot on turf.

Pinpoint, developed by Valent in conjunction with Nufarm, has been under field development with numerous university researchers since 2006. When compared to industry standard fungicides in university trials, Pinpoint has delivered proven performance in controlling dollar spot.

Pinpoint is labeled for use on turf and lawn sites including: golf courses, lawns around residential, institutional, public, commercial and industry buildings; parks, recreational areas, athletic fields; and sod farms.

Pinpoint is a member of FRAC group 11 and is best used preventively in a rotation program. It provides an additional management option for dollar spot and a rotation partner for other classes of chemistry such as Spectrum Succinate Dehydrogenase Inhibitors (SDHI) fungicides, helping to optimize all the tools available in a comprehensive disease resistance management program.

Pinpoint is available through Nufarm. For more information on Pinpoint or to contact a sales representative, visit www.nufarm.com/us.
