Day of Service projects

Southern Botanical, and STIHL and K&D Round’s Landscape Service did their part to help the community.

Southern Botanical
Dallas-based Southern Botanical has recently committed to being a new Corporate Sponsor for the Dallas Arboretum, and had the opportunity to put that commitment to work during Monday’s Day of Service event. For the event, Southern Botanical donated a full day of labor with two complete crews and four managers.

Starting at 7:30 am, the teams prepared beds, planted shrubs and spring color, mowed grass, repaired and adjusted irrigation systems and installed new water access points. They finished up after 3:30 pm having completely transformed areas of the Arboretum and having helped the facility make significant progress on their ongoing seasonal changes.

“The Dallas Arboretum is one of the city’s most precious assets, and Southern Botanical is thrilled be able to provide them with our time and expertise,” said Jason Craven, President and CEO of Southern Botanical.

STIHL
STIHL teamed with Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation and K&D Round’s Landscape Services spent two days cleaning up and renovating Beach Garden Park in Virginia Beach, Va. \a supporting sponsor of the national event, joined many companies performing a variety of volunteer.

The two days of work included cultivating and redefining flower beds, pruning trees and shrubs, creating a wetland garden and installing a rock bed to control runoff erosion. Children of STIHL Inc. employees participated in planting daylilies in the wetland garden. STIHL, Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation and K & D Round’s Landscape Services dedicated the new wetland garden to Virginia Beach Middle School, which is located in front of Beach Garden Park and uses the park athletic fields, and to the citizens of Virginia Beach. Plant materials were donated by Lancaster Farms.

“We were thrilled to collaborate with STIHL to give back to the community and improve the environment for the fifth year. We beautify the outdoors and make it more accessible and enjoyable to spend time with family and friends in an inviting setting,” said Joel Vanscoy, one of the owners and senior vice president of K & D Round’s Landscape Services.
