Landscape contractors saw their top lines increase slightly in 2011, with 7 percent more companies falling into the $1 million or more revenue category, and 4 percent more in the $500,000 to $999,999 category than in 2010. The average contractor will bring in about $713,000 in sales in 2011. That number is expected to grow to just more than $843,000 in 2012. Margins have stayed on track, with the average contractor seeing about 10 percent gross profit margin for all lines of service. Recurring services – lawn care and maintenance – remained strong.
