Propane power

Watch two organizations talk about how they’ve used propane to handle difficult jobs and operate a more efficient company.

Established in 1916, the Forest Preserve District of Cook County is comprised of more than 69,000 acres and requires a comprehensive landscape maintenance program. The need for reliable, cost-efficient equipment prompted the Forest Preserve maintenance supervisor to seek a new solution. Ultimately, he and the landscape maintenance department made the decision to transition to propane.

Stay Green was founded in 1970 by Richard and Charlene Angelo whose vision was to provide the best landscape services in the region. The company was among the first landscape management firms to implement environmentally friendly practices when it transitioned to propane. Today Stay Green operates a fleet of more than 60 propane-powered John Deere mowers.
