A resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, already had a backyard equipped with a lush landscape, two-tiered lawn, pool and hot tub area, but wanted Tom’s Outdoor Living to add a covered area to enjoy outside all year long. The resident also lived in the Maple Ridge Neighborhood, one of the first neighborhoods in Tulsa. The Tulsa Preservation commission has managed to retain the original architecture and historical characters of the neighborhood, giving Cherlyn Reeves, landscape designer/project manager something to take into account.
- Playing off of a nearby sun room, the company used the exact same stone on the fireplace and outdoor kitchen that was on the masonry wall in the sun room for a seamless transition.
- A Pennsylvania Blue stone pathway was added, which led to a new masonry wall that gave an extra bit of privacy from the road.
- Tom’s used the same open rafter ceiling as the sun room and stained the covered structure the same as the rafters inside to make the transition smooth.
- Copper gutters and a pergola were attached to the sun room and covered structure for extra protection from the Oklahoma weather.
