Navigation Device Finds Pennsylvania Business Owner

Fla

Frank McCauley has been expanding his family landscape construction and maintenance company, Grass Roots Lawn Care, to the point where he travels a 75-mile radius to service customers beyond his home base of Pennsburg, Pa. It was good news to him, then, when he found out he won EverGreen Software’s Tom Tom portable navigation device from the recent Lawn & Landscape online sweepstakes.

McCauley, who has been self-employed for 15 years and employs two, says he gets most of his business from word-of-mouth referrals. His clients include an even mix of commercial and residential clients.

He maps the day’s route depending on the workload. The navigation device is designed to help contractors like McCauley pick a route that will allow him to make the best use of his time.

Tennessee Landscape Contractor Wins Silver Gazing Globe Fountain

Fla

It was a lucky day for Danny Cutshaw of Danny’s Lawn Service in Greenville, Tenn., recently when he was chosen as the winner of a silver gazing globe fountain from Aquascape through Lawn & Landscape’s online sweepstakes.

Cutshaw and his three full-time employees manage about 50 to 75 lawn and landscape maintenance clients, mostly residential. A self-described Jack-of-all-trades, he’s finding that he’s being asked to work on more water feature projects than before.

“We’re mostly reworking other ponds that the original contractor didn’t do a good job on,” he says, adding he maintains a few clients’ existing ponds.

Cutshaw started his business 10 years ago, but wished he would have started earlier.
