For the fifth year in a row, Aquascape and a group of Certified Aquascape Contractors (CAC) made the trek down to Walt Disney World’s Epcot Center to display the beauty and tranquility of water gardens. Inclusion in the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival furthers the thought that water gardening is a huge part of outdoor living for people all over the world.

Aquascape was tasked to build five water features for the exhibit, all of which took place in the middle of the night under bright lights. The crew toiled for three nights, building what was sure to be a group of watery masterpieces.
There was a variety of water gardens that were built, ranging from a full-fledged pond, to Pondless Waterfalls, to fabulous decorative features. A 15-by-25-foot Pondless Waterfall was the largest of the group, complete with a 40-foot stream, a bog garden using 15 tons of large boulders, and eight 16-inch koi. There was also an 8-by-11-foot pond and a 6-by-6-foot Pondless Waterfall, along with two dynamic decorative features. In one decorative feature, thee large urns were used, along with Aquascape’s AquaBlox. In the other, three large fountain rocks were displayed.
“We wanted to take this opportunity to show off the decorative side of water features,” Ed Beaulieu, Vice President of Field Research for Aquascape said. “The demand for water in the outdoor living space is huge right now, and it’s important to show people that they don’t have to just think of ponds when thinking about adding water to their landscapes.”
Aquascape’s Ed Beaulieu, Brian Helfrich, and Tavia Tawney led the crew again for this year’s Epcot build, along with Authorized AquascapePRO Distributor Al Lentz from Aqua Scapes of the Delaware Valley in Warrington, Pa. The Certified Aquascape Contractors who pitched in were Dave Blocksom from Pondscapes of Charlotte in Matthews, N.C.; Steve Parker from Alpine Aquascapes in Katy, Texas; Jim Ruprecht from Bay State Aquascapes in Kingston, Mass.; Kevin Downes from Clearwater Ponds in Ontario, Canada; Ed Brown from Ponderiffic Adventures in Cherry Valley, Calif.; David Weekley from Waterscapes Pro in Charlotte, N.C.; Jason Heller from Mulhall’s Nursery in Omaha, Neb.; Matt Gugliotti from Trailsend Water Gardens in Avon, Conn.; Tommy Hill from Mystic Falls Water Gardens and Nursery in Puyallup, Wash.; Michelle Auch from Sweetwater Landscape in Forestville, Calif.; Roger Sears from The Gardens Edge in York, Pa.; Chris Patrick from Bayscapes, Inc. in Tampa, Fla.; Jim Price from Pondtastic Watergardens in Kissimmee, Fla.; and Oronzo Coppola from The Pond Pros, Inc. in Pompano Beach, Fla. Lee Andrews from Pond Professors in Greensboro, N.C. was also in attendance at the build.
“Every year we do this, I learn something new from our customers, which is great,” Tavia Tawney, Technical Support Agent for Aquascape said. “I take those tips back to the tech lines and share them with the rest of our customer base.”
