Canopy Lawn Care to exclusively focus on lawn treatment program

The decision moves the company away from landscape maintenance services to concentrate solely on lawn treatments.

Canopy Lawn Care will now focus exclusively on its proprietary lawn treatment program.

This strategic move is intended to help the company refine its services and create a simplified and scalable business model for franchisees.

“Canopy is unique because of our proprietary program, which we’ve spent years perfecting,” says Hunt Davis, founder and CEO of Canopy Lawn Care. “Our approach goes beyond synthetic fertilizers to focus on developing the soil itself. By nurturing the foundation, we achieve greener, healthier lawns that thrive year-round while also protecting the environment.”

Canopy Lawn Care’s decision moves the company away from landscape maintenance services to concentrate solely on lawn treatments. Canopy's proprietary treatments include natural ingredients like coffee grounds, amino acids, sea kelp and probiotics. These components replace the salts, chlorines and synthetics found in other programs.

“Our program has removed a lot of the harmful components that traditional lawn care programs have relied on for decades,” says Mike Hrivnak, director of agronomy. “Salts, chlorines, and synthetic chemicals not only damage the soil microbiome and the billions of microorganisms that naturally sustain plant health but also create significant runoff, harming the environment. Instead, we’ve replaced those with natural, beneficial products like repurposed coffee grounds, sea kelp, and probiotics — ingredients that feed and stimulate soil health, creating a sustainable ecosystem for vibrant, green lawns.”

Franchisees have exclusive access to Canopy's proprietary products, and the exclusive focus on treatments eliminates the complexities of landscaping, which the company says helps franchisees to run streamlined, low-labor operations.

“As part of the Empower Brands family, we leverage their scale to negotiate the best prices for our franchisees,” says Ben Wright, chief operating officer. “This ensures our owners can focus on growing their business while delivering unmatched results to their customers.”

Operations are now stretching from Miami to far north of Salt Lake City, and the company plans to expand into 11 states by this spring. The company is backed by Empower Brands and was founded in 2016. It has been franchising since 2023.
