Certified Aquascape Contractors Hold First Regional Meeting

More than 40 attendees were present for the first-of-its-kind Certified Aquascape Contractor (CAC) Regional Meetings, held in California in August. Santa Cruz and Los Angeles set the scene for an informative meeting, designed to get feedback from CACs in the area. Aquascape Designs decided to hold regional meetings with Certified Aquascape Contractors in order to maintain an open line of communication with Aquascape’s top installers and understand the challenges and consumer demands that affect their businesses.

During the meetings, the purpose of the new Certified Aquascape Contractor Advisory Board was discussed. The CAC Board will act as regional contractor representatives who serve as liaisons between Aquascape and the CACs. The advisory board will meet quarterly to discuss issues and generate action items. 

Perhaps the biggest announcement was Aquascape Vice President of Field Research Ed Beaulieu’s new involvement with the CAC program. Ed has trained thousands of contractors throughout North America over the last decade and brings the knowledge and expertise in pond construction and the operational aspects of running a multi-million dollar construction firm to the table.

The group was joined by California Pro Pond Distributors Kirk Samis (Pondsaway, Santa Cruz), Chad Morrill (Pro Ponds West, Los Angeles), and Bob Eitelman (Aqua Designs, San Diego). The distributors were involved to encourage open dialogue between supplier and buyer. Cliff “Motel” McCready, Ed Beaulieu, Tara Kunz, Chris Wilson, Rajan Patel, and Lucas Henry represented Aquascape at the meetings.

The Certified Aquascape Contractor Program is a manufacturer certification program with about 300 CACs throughout North America trained to install the Aquascape system. The program is designed to offer the consumer a qualified installer and a continued resource for future enjoyment of the hobby. Some of the benefits of the program to the contractor include the use of the CAC logo, quarterly newsletters, and a private Internet message board to exchange information.
