The 60 employees at VanCuren Services and Midwest Land Clearing will join Davey's team after the acquisition.

The Davey Tree Expert Company has acquired VanCuren Services and Midwest Land Clearing of Newbury, Ohio.

Since 1986, VanCuren has provided comprehensive residential, commercial and utility tree care needs for Northeast Ohio and surrounding states. Midwest Land Clearing provides land clearing services for Northeast Ohio, including land surveying, underbrush mulching, tree removal, debris removal, hauling services and total lot clearing.

VanCuren and Midwest’s almost 60 employees will be continuing to work as a part of Davey’s Residential/Commercial (R/C) service line. Davey Tree ranked No. 2 on Lawn & Landscape's Top 100 list in 2024.

“VanCuren and Midwest are excited to join Davey because of its strong reputation in the industry and countless support systems,” says David VanCuren, owner of VanCuren and Midwest. “One of those support systems being the Davey Institute, Davey’s industry-leading research and diagnostic laboratory, which will help us make science-based decisions for our people and advance our commitment to quality, integrity, safety and exceptional service.”

“Now that we are with Davey, we are looking forward to seeing how our employees can get involved with employee ownership at Davey and how they can advance in their careers through trainings and promotions," VanCurren adds.

Harold Pierce, co-owner of Midwest, says, “Our employees are central to our business, and their dedication does not go unnoticed.”

“We are excited that VanCuren and Midwest employees are joining the Davey family because they share Davey’s same values," says Scott Heim, vice president, Northeast operating group, R/C services at Davey. "We are excited that with our SEED (Science, Employee Education and Development) Campus opening next year, employees from both companies will be able to receive top-notch training and educational resources right here in Northeast Ohio.”
