Ewing taps Yarian as irrigation category manager

Ian Yarian has 30 years of experience in the industry.

Ewing Irrigation & Landscape Supply has hired Ian Yarian as its new irrigation category manager.

“I am ecstatic to have Ian join us as irrigation category manager,” Ewing Chief Revenue Officer Tom Childers said of the 30-year industry veteran. “His extensive sales and marketing background, coupled with his vast industry knowledge, provide us the expertise needed to continue to grow the critical irrigation business. In today’s market and the Ewing culture, the customer is the single point of focus. Ian lives this and is a great fit!”

As Ewing’s irrigation category manager, Yarian will be responsible for growing the product category, managing vendor relationships, engaging customers and providing product support to Ewing branch and sales staff.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to be part of the Ewing team,” Yarian said. “In my previous career, I saw the great potential for growth in Ewing, and I look forward to helping the company expand its presence in the market.”

Yarian comes to Ewing from Rain Bird, where he worked for more than 14 years in various leadership capacities, including distribution sales manager for the Florida region. He also served as director of sales and business development for Durasol Awnings in New York, as division manager for Unitex, Inc. in Rhode Island and as outside sales manager for Wallace Supply Co. in New York.

Yarian graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1987 with a bachelor of science in political science/international relations and a minor in Russian language. He served five years as a Signals Intelligence Officer in the Air Force—two years overseas and three years in airborne intelligence in the States—rising to the rank of Captain before leaving the service for the private sector.

He lives in Pembroke Pines, Florida, with his wife, Ana Maria Jacay Yarian, and daughters Sofia, 16; Kiara, 16; and Dora, 14. They also have a 22-year-old son, Juan.
