Irrigation Show 2008: Toro Nozzles Named ‘New Product of the Year’ at Irrigation Show

Toro Precision Series Spray Nozzles perform while operating at lower precipitation rates to conserve water and reduce irrigation costs.

Toro Precision Series Spray Nozzles, which perform while operating at lower precipitation rates to conserve water and reduce irrigation costs, were named the “2008 New Product of the Year for Turf/Landscape” at the Irrigation Association’s (IA) Show recently held in Anaheim, Calif.

These innovative, spray nozzles use patented Toro H2O Chip Technology – Hyper-streams of oscillating water, moving at Hyper-frequencies (200 cycles per second) and deliver a low, but effective precipitation rate of One inch per hour, even after radius reduction – an industry first!  The oscillating pattern, invisible to the naked eye and only seen by strobe light illumination,  delivers lower flow rates than competitive spray nozzles with better overall irrigation efficiency, reduced misting, and superior edge definition. They can apply water precisely to irrigation zones with reduced risk of saturation or run-off, all with the efficiency commonly expected from a rotor.

The Irrigation Association’s New Product Contest is an annual competition held at the IA’s Industry Show. Toro’s Precision Series Spray Nozzles were chosen from 31 total products – 13 of which were Turf/Landscape entries. The award is given to companies with new irrigation technology and products are judged on merits of design quality, water conserving attributes, the cost and time savings it provides for a contractor or end-user, and ease of use.

“Our new Precision Series Spray Nozzles are among the new water management products we have developed to optimize irrigation efficiency and water conservation,” said Mike Baron, National Specification & Sales Manager, Water Management Products. “We are proud the IA judges recognized them as New Product of the Year, and we remain committed to developing innovative products to make tomorrow’s irrigation even more efficient.”

Toro Irrigation Product & Marketing Manager Don Fisher said, “Precision Series Spray Nozzles use less water to achieve outstanding results. The lower precipitation rate, along with the nozzles' ability to work reliably with higher operating pressure, results in the precise placement of water, a characteristic irrigation contractors and property owners desire. In fact, these nozzles control misting and blow-back from 20 to 50 psi, which helps reduce costly water waste," said Fisher. "Overall, these nozzles use less water, reduce irrigation costs and deliver better results."

The Precision Series Spray Nozzles are available in models of 5 different radii between 5 and 15 feet. Nozzle tops are color-coded to indicate the specific radius and are marked with an “O”, indicating the “One” inch per hour precipitation rate. They are available in nine different arcs between 60 and 360 degrees per radius, and specialty arcs such as right and left corners and center strips are also available. With 54 different radius and arc options, they provide the most complete line of spray nozzles.
