Krista Irving, owner of Miss Muskoka Landscapes, was recently named the newest Proven Winners Certified Landscape Professional (PWCLP) by Proven Winners plant brand.
Miss Muskoka Landscapes was founded in 2019 by Irving. Located in Canada, the Bracebridge, Ontario company is one of the few females owned and operated landscape companies serving the Muskoka Region. Their full range of services include garden maintenance, garden installs, garden revamps, spring and fall cleanups, planters, walkway installs and sod installation. The company’s goal is to help clients experience the joys of living to the fullest while exceeding garden care expectations.
Miss Muskoka Landscapes specializes in design, consulting, and renovation. The company takes pride in educating clients to better understand the ecosystem of their garden. From a young age Irving grew up watching her dad garden and win awards for his personal gardens using plants native to the area.
“On trips, my dad would go out of his way to look at gardens. We have albums full of random people’s gardens from all our trips! Now I do the same,” she says.
Irving has a Bachelor of Science degree from Coker University in South Carolina where she competed for four years on the Women’s Golf team.
“I grew up on the golf course which gave me the love for how golf courses can be so perfect from the moment you drive up to the club house to the 18th green,” she says. “It always fascinated me the types of grasses used from the hazards to green and how to maintain it. Then you look at top courses where gardens just add to the scene and make you remember it. Anyone in golf can tell you about the azaleas at Augusta National. Yes, without them the course is hard and tough but with them they add so much beauty. And that is what I love to do for clients. But for a great outcome the right plant material must be used, which is where part of my education comes into play - understanding plant biology and classifications.”
