Joshua Tree Experts, a Pennsylvania-based company, is ready to expand with its first franchisees.
The company offers tree care, maintenance, plant health care, lawn care and pest control. The company plans to open 35 locations starting this year. In preparation for expansion, the company created a support plan.
“We’re really focused on having our franchisees come on board with us and really just be able to focus on operations and the daily functions of the business,” says Joshua Malik, founder and CEO.
During onboarding, Joshua Tree Experts will go over the schedule of events that need to take place in the coming months with a timeline attached to it.
“The timeline of the onboarding process is usually dictated by funding,” says Tom Armstrong, vice president of franchise operations. “We’ll work from the bottom up. Once we know what type of funding they have, we’ll have a rough idea of how long the process will take. Then, we set up our onboarding systems to coincide with that timeline.”
The team will also help get the ball rolling on ordering equipment and putting together materials for hiring employees and operational team members.
After franchisees go through the onboarding process, they will be scheduled for a week-long training that covers in-depth aspects of the business.
“During training, we go over everything in great detail from top to bottom,” Armstrong says. “Although we can’t train people on tree care in a week, we can train them on how to get started. We cover everything from safety to vehicles and equipment, to sales. We'll also go out to one of our vendors and go through the machines we use.”
The company will also be developing all of the recruiting for the franchisees. “We're going to put people in front of them that they can hire, as long as they feel that they're the right fit and the right culture for them,” Malik says.
