BRILLION, Wis. – Ariens Co. has initiated a recall alert with the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) for a small number of Sno-Thro machines with the potential for a safety hazard. No incidents of failure or injury have been reported, according to the company.
The alert covers 1,040 machines that were built in December of 2009 and sold through The Home Depot and Ariens dealerships from October 2009 to January of 2010. A total of 619 units have been repaired to date. The company has also made repeated attempts to contact any remaining customers of these machines who have registered their units with the company, advising them to bring the machines to a servicing dealer for repair.
“We take any potential risk of injury very seriously and have been working diligently to connect with the remaining customers,” said Dan Ariens, company president. “The repair is easily handled by our Ariens authorized dealers located throughout the country.”
If you have a Sno-Thro that meets the following criteria, contact Ariens to determine if your unit has been repaired. If your unit has not been repaired, Ariens will assist you in scheduling an appointment for a free repair with an Ariens dealer in your area. For more information, contact Ariens Co. toll free at 888-927-4367 between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or visit the company’s website at www.ariens.com.

“We want Ariens customers to remain confident in the Sno-Thro brand which has been a mainstay in snow removal since 1960. The affected machines amount to less than one percent of the Ariens Sno-
Thro models sold during the 2010 season,” Ariens said. “Although the scope of the alert is small, it does reinforce the importance for customers to complete the warranty registration cards when you purchase a piece of power equipment. The warranty registration is our means of reaching customers with any safety information related to their purchases.”
Warranty registrations are completed by submitting your name, contact information and serial number for your equipment. Warranty registration cards are included with Ariens owners manuals.
You can also register Ariens equipment online.
