UD Trucks North America introduces 2011 models at ATD Convention

New products feature all new cab and 7-liter GH7 diesel engine.

UD Trucks dealers from around the U.S. were guests at a private showing of UD Trucks North America’s (UDNA) 2011 new medium duty truck product during the 2010 American Truck Dealers Convention in Orlando, Fla.,  April 23-26. The company’s dealers had the opportunity to inspect examples of the new vehicle and the new engine and transmission offerings. The company’s new SCR-based EATS (Exhaust After-Treatment System) System was also on display for the first time in the United States.

The new products feature an all new cab and operator’s environment, and the new 7-liter GH7 diesel engine, which was jointly developed by UD Trucks Corporation and Volvo Powertrain Development. The new vehicles offer customers the benefits of improved performance, economy, aerodynamics and the versatility of a variety of transmission options, including the Allison 3000 Series automatic, the company says.

“The cab and interior are completely redesigned. The new cab interior has more legroom and a real upgrade in driver comfort, and the addition of the Allison 3000 transmission when combined with the high torque engine will open the doors to more vocational sales,” says Greg Herdzina, sales manager for the UD Trucks brand at Chicago Mack, in Summit, Ill.

“The fact that the SCR package is proven technology for UD Trucks and the clean installation for the overall package will be easy to sell,” says Jim Sayre, Jr. of G.L. Sayre, Inc.
