Laytonsville, MD – Ruppert Landscape is pleased to announce the promotions of Doug Halsey and Fred Key to the position of Regional Vice President. In this role, both Key and Halsey will lead the landscape management division, providing strategic vision and operational insight, and acting as a resource for their Branch Managers in the areas of people development, training, customer service and profitability.
In this position, Halsey will be responsible for the northern region, which includes the company’s branches in Washington, DC, Maryland and Pennsylvania. “Doug is a strong leader and has excelled at developing a great team of branch managers under him, said Phil Key, President. “He has played an integral role in helping our division develop solid, long-term customer relationships, and he will undoubtedly continue to help us with our strategic vision and with imparting the Ruppert culture and values throughout our organization.” Halsey, a resident of Frederick, MD has over 24 years of industry experience and has been with Ruppert for over 18 years serving in a variety of positions including Crewman, Field Manager, Area Manager and Branch Manager. Halsey holds a bachelor’s degree in plant science from SUNY Cobleskill in Cobleskill, NY. He is a Certified Landscape Professional and in 2004, he received one of the company’s top honors, the Clyde Vadner Merit Award, which is presented to the individual who has demonstrated consistent hard work and dedication leading to exceptional contributions to the organization
In this position, (Fred) Key will be responsible for the southern region, which includes the company’s branches in Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia. The company’s President, Phil Key, describes (Fred) Key as someone with natural leadership qualities. “Fred has a steadfast commitment to self- improvement and has always lead by example. He has a real passion for problem-solving and is willing to have the tough conversations that help to bring about change within our organization. In his new role, he will continue to play a key role in disseminating the company’s values and culture and will have an ongoing impact on division’s strategic direction as we continue to grow.”
Key, a resident of Haymarket, VA, has over 20 years of industry experience and has been with Ruppert for 12 years serving in a variety of positions including Crewman, Foreman, Area Manager, Controller, landscape construction Production Manager, Division Administrator, landscape management Branch Manager and Region Manager. Key holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Salisbury State University where he majored in accounting. He is a Certified Landscape Professional and in 2009, he received one of the company’s top honors, the Clyde Vadner Merit Award, which is presented to the individual who has demonstrated consistent hard work and dedication leading to exceptional contributions to the organization.
