Low-Volume Irrigation Data Analysis

Use these steps to measure distribution uniformity in low-volume irrigation systems.

Data analysis for low-volume systems is performed the same way as turfgrass systems. The distribution uniformity can be measured by dividing the average of the low quarter by the average of all measurements. The precipitation rate can be measured with the following formulas:

  • The average gallons per minute (gpm) times 96.3 divided by the spacing in square feet
  • The gallons per hour per emitter by 0.6234 times the emitter spacing in square feet
  • The total gpm times 96.3 divided by the total area irrigated in square feet
