Mulch Man Industries is a group purchasing organization (GPO) leveraging the collective buying power of its members to drive procurement efficiencies throughout the landscaping and lawn care industry. MMI acts as a third-party intermediary, working closely with its members and supplier partners to negotiate agreements that provide pricing, contract terms and service levels.
MMI is building its initial cohort of members. Once a predetermined purchasing power threshold is reached, MMI will establish partnerships with leading distributors and suppliers. In the near-term, MMI is targeting all non-perishable supply cost categories to maximize member benefits and increase operating leverage. Over time, as material regional concentration emerges in its member base, MMI will also establish contracts with major nurseries in specific localities.
MMI offers revenue-sharing agreements to preferred members joining at this stage to accelerate growth and is gaining momentum with companies and supplier partners across the industry. MMI’s supplier partners benefit from increased market share, improved sales efficiency and gained access to high-quality, repeat business.
Industry consolidation, driven by private equity investments, is forecasted to continue to increase over the next decade. As competition intensifies, businesses must adapt to maintain competitive advantage. GPOs have proven effective in other industries, and MMI is excited to offer this service to the landscaping and lawn care industry.
Adil Mian is the president & founder of MMI. After years of working in field service management software as a private equity investor & investment banker, Mian recognized the absence of a commercialized GPO entity in the landscaping and lawn care industry. He is working with former GPO executives and industry veterans to develop a comprehensive platform.
