Somewhere Tim “The Toolman” Taylor is smiling.

For in the true tradition of comic Tim Allen’s famed TV alter ego, Dixie Chopper has one-upped the more-power-crazed “Home Improvement” star with its latest lawn-mowing stunt. And it’s a feat that should certainly stir the senses of most gadget-hungry American males.
The ingenuity of Dixie Chopper founder Art Evans and his ever-clever Research and Development team has successfully combined two outdoor weekend activities -- mowing and grilling -- into one.
Here’s the recipe for that trick: Take one Dixie Chopper propane-powered lawn mower. Spice with a specially built Generac engine. Add LP gas tabletop grill bracketed in place over the engine and behind the seat. Top with hamburger patties and mow until grilled to your taste.
Dixie Chopper did just that on a recent afternoon just outside Greencastle, Ind.

With Dixie Chopper R & D employee Mark Crowder maneuvering aboard the powerful new propane mower, you could actually hear the burgers sizzling as he mowed around a nearby pond at the Russ Hesler residence.
With the Heslers providing plates and buns, Crowder soon served up juicy burgers that were eagerly devoured by Dixie Chopper Media Marketing Manager Rick Judy, G2 Media Group film crew members George Milnes and Justin McCrea and Crowder himself.
The grilling magic was made possible by installing a special LP tank that fed vapor to run the grill (a Fathers’ Day gift to Evans from one of his sons, incidentally), while the mower ran off the liquid propane tank that comes standard on the new Dixie Chopper propane model.
Such ingenuity is reminiscent of the time Evans put a 150-horsepower Chinook helicopter engine on a Dixie Chopper to prove its durability. That mower did end up on “Home Improvement” as Tim Taylor raced Bob Vila in the 1993 season finale of the popular series.

So why did Dixie Chopper cook up this latest horsepower hamburger magic?
As National Sales Manager Matt Land likes to say, “Because we can.”
Or as Crowder says as he serves the final burger and peers into the video camera: “Only Dixie Chopper ...”
