KANSAS CITY, Mo. - drafix.com, a provider of design software for professional landscapers, recently announced the release of PRO Landscape version 7. The latest version of the program offers several new features, including advancements in computer-aided drafting (CAD) technology.
PRO Landscape is a design suite that includes three integrated modules to create photorealistic presentations of design plans, 2-D site plans and automated client proposals. Together these three integrated modules help landscape contractors and designers with the aspects of landscaping projects. The suite includes:
- PRO Landscape Image Editor - a sales tool that provides customers with a photo realistic presentation of the proposed project.
- PRO Landscape Planner - creates a professional 2D-site plan that accurately represents the installation of plantings, sprinkler systems and hardscapes.
- PRO Landscape Proposal - generates an accurate bid for the client directly from the design, eliminating errors and duplicated efforts.

The new version also highlights enhancements to the CAD module of the program. The new CAD tool features a content librarian that uses drag and drop functionality to add solid fills, hatch patterns or symbols into the selected area. Real-time pan and zoom tools enable users to navigate to any area of a plan quickly. Version 7 also includes the ability to read file formats from the most recent releases of AutoCAD, including AutoCAD 2000i.
PRO Landscape version 7 also features a new tutorial CD and learning tools. "Many of our current users only actually utilize a small amount of the software's capabilities," said Augie Grasis, president of drafix.com. "The new tutorials will not only reduce the learning curve for new users, but assist the experienced PRO Landscape user with operating the software at its full potential." The tutorials guide users through an entire project from start to finish, exposing them to every facet of the software. The written tutorials also feature a "show me" button to display video detailing what was just read.
Version 7 also includes new additions to the Image Editor module of the software, including adding more depth and realism to objects in their image by using the perspective tool.
The new version also includes PRO Landscape Light Editor, which allows users to drag and drop light fixtures, which illuminate with a click of a button.
