Nufarm announced the EPA registration of Allstar Herbicide, a new herbicide for use on cool-season turfgrasses developed to single-handedly control grassy weeds, nutsedge and tough broadleaf weeds like spurge, clover, dollarweed, ground ivy, oxalis, wild violet and Virginia buttonweed. Allstar will be available to order on this year’s Nufarm Edge Rewards Program.
Allstar features a unique combination of four active ingredients — 2, 4-D, Quinclorac, Sulfentrazone and Triclopyr — to provide turfgrass professionals with a tool to control an extensive spectrum of difficult-to-control weeds throughout the summer season.
“Lawn care professionals working with cool-season lawns have been looking for a fast-acting, cost-effective solution for stubborn weeds like ground ivy, oxalis and wild violet,” says Nufarm Lawn Care Segment Lead Jamie Heydinger. "Allstar’s formulation has prioritized effective loading across four key actives to provide customers with greater confidence in treating complex summer weed challenges without callbacks.”
Allstar’s formula provides visible results within hours of application and is labeled for many cool-season lawns with tall and fine fescues, annual and perennial ryegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, annual bluegrass, rough bluegrass, and Bentgrass, as well as warm-season turfgrass, specifically hybrid and common Bermudagrass and zoysiagrass.
With a wide treatment window spanning the summer season, Allstar is designed as a solution for turfgrasses challenged with persistent, difficult-to-control weeds. Allstar availability and state registrations are anticipated through the fall of 2024 for use on residential and commercial lawns, sports turf and golf course fairways and roughs.
