Nufarm’s Southpaw Herbicide receives EPA registration

Nufarm Americas Inc. announced the Environmental Protection Agency registration for Southpaw Herbicide, a combination formula developed for flexible post-emergence control of broadleaf weeds, grassy weeds and sedges in a variety of warm-season turf types with turfgrass tolerance.
“Lawn care professionals have needed a better weed control solution for warm-season lawns, and Nufarm has worked with industry partners and researchers to bring Southpaw as that solution,” says Nufarm Lawn Care Segment Lead Jamie Heydinger. "The unique combination of chemistries in Southpaw provides the benefit of outstanding warm-season turf safety.”
With a wide treatment window spanning the season, Southpaw is designed as a cost-effective solution for lawn care companies, sports field managers and golf course superintendents who are challenged with persistent difficult-to-control weeds.

Southpaw features a combination of three active ingredients — Sulfosulfuron, Metsulfuro and Dicamba — with two modes of action for weed resistance management and no signal word. Southpaw is labeled for control of tough weeds like kyllinga and sedges, dollarweed and doveweed, Virginia buttonweed, clover, quackgrass, ground ivy and more in residential and commercial turfgrass, sports turf, golf turf and sod farms with Bermudagrass, Zoysiagrass, Centipedegrass and St. Augustinegrass.
Southpaw availability and state registrations are anticipated through late summer and fall of 2024.
