In the struggling economy, Frank Borges thought he would be lucky to get enough work this summer. Instead, the owner of Borges Lawns & More in Riverside, R.I., is trying to keep up with the demand.

“I’m just trying to meet customers’ deadlines,” he says. “My May billing was the largest ever.”
Borges has two employees to help him keep up with the work, which is mostly residential. About 25 percent of his work is landscape design, and he was looking at software packages that could help make this part of his business more efficient. He was delighted to hear he won a ProLandscape software package from Drafix, the prize from a recent Lawn & Landscape online sweepstakes.
Borges isn’t very experienced with design software but figures his well-versed employee can show him.
“I’m not all thumbs,” he says, adding, “I can learn. I’m half thumbs.”
