PGMS recognizes grounds professionals with awards in Louisville

Warren Sellers, Christopher Vetick, Warren Gorowitz, Joel Spies and Barbara Hatchel all received awards.

The Professional Grounds Management Society honored several grounds professionals with awards as part of its 2024 Annual Awards Celebration that took place Oct. 17 in conjunction with the annual Transform conference and Equip Expo in Louisville, Kentucky.

PGMS recognized Warren Sellers of Sellers Expositions with the PGMS Gold Medal Award. The PGMS Gold Medal is given to an individual or entity to recognize them for outstanding and long-term achievements and/or contributions to the green industry.

Christopher Vetick, who served as deputy director of the architect of the Capitol Grounds and Arboretum was posthumously bestowed the prestigious E. Earl Wilson Award, which is presented to a PGMS member for long-term dedication to both the society and the green industry.

The Special Award of Distinguished Service recognizes outstanding service from a board or committee member that goes above and beyond what is expected. This year two recipients were recognized: Warren Gorowitz of Hunter Industries and Joel Spies of Rainbow Ecoscience

Each year, the PGMS President is asked to give a President's Award to a member they feel has shown outstanding service and contributions to the Society. This year, President Roger Conner, honored Barbara Hatchel of Texas A&M University - SSC Services for Education in College Station, Texas.
