Once each year, lawn care professionals from across the nation gather in Washington, D.C., to volunteer their time, equipment and expertise to the Professional Lawn Care Association of America (PLCAA) Renewal & Remembrance Project at Arlington National Cemetery and Old Congressional Cemetery.
And again this year, ProSource One, in cooperation with EC Grow and Syngenta Professional Products, will supply fertilizers with Barricade for the project.
“We are very proud to be a project contributor to the Renewal & Remembrance Project again this year,” said Bob Lee, ProSource One director. “We see this as a chance to honor America’s soldiers, veterans and legislative leaders while bringing recognition to an industry that is very near and dear to ProSource One.”
The project is held in conjunction with the PLCAA Legislative Day, which provides lawn care and landscape professionals and opportunity to unify and stand on Capitol Hill and to visit legislators and present issues important to their businesses. Such issues range from product usage and loss to water quality, posting and pre-notification to tax reform. Attendees are briefed on issues by PLCAA before the Hill visits, and first-time visitors get special attention from veteran attendees. The day before the Hill visits, attendees are encouraged to volunteer to work on the lawn and landscape maintenance and restoration projects that the cemeteries.
“PLCAA’s Legislative Day and Cemetery Project are not-to-be-missed opportunities for lawn and landscape companies looking to secure their business futures and volunteer for a good cause,” said Gary Clayton, PLCAA’s executive vice president. “We need as many participants as possible. There is strength in numbers, and a good showing in Washington by our industry could make a difference in legislation and public perception at home and in D.C.”
The Renewal & Remembrance Project and Legislative Day events are scheduled July 19-20, 2004. For more information and registration materials, contact PLCAA at 800/458-3466 or visit the association’s Web site.
