Shemin Nurseries To Acquire Imperial Nurseries' Wholesale Distribution Network

Shemin Nurseries Inc. continues its expansion with the announcement last week that it has signed a letter of intent to acquire the sales and service operations of Imperial Nurseries.

DANBURY, Conn. – Shemin Nurseries Inc. continues its expansion with the announcement last week that it has signed a letter of intent to acquire the sales and service operations of Imperial Nurseries, a subsidiary of Griffin Land & Nurseries Inc. The seven Imperial sales and service locations will become part of Shemin Nurseries, which currently operates 24 similar facilities concentrated in the Midwest and East Coast.

Shemin Nurseries, along with United Green Mark, a major west coast irrigation distributor with 34 locations, recently joined forces as Shemin Holdings Inc., which the company says is the country’s largest distributor of horticultural products and services.

Bob Rankl, president and CEO of Shemin said, "We are thrilled at the prospects of having Imperial’s distribution business join ours. They have excellent people, are very successful, and together with Shemin locations, will position us to provide our customers the best of products and services. Longer term, our goal is to build a national footprint in horticultural products and services."

Mike Danziger, president and CEO of Griffin said, "We are very excited about reaching this letter of intent with Shemin and look forward to a fast closing. The agreement provides for Griffin to obtain an ownership interest and representation in Shemin’s continuing business, which demonstrates our continuing dedication to this industry. Also, a long term supply agreement with a larger Shemin will allow us to focus on our Connecticut and Florida growing operations and better position both operations to serve their customers."
