Skinner Nurseries Announces Reorganization

Former President Kevin Van Dyke has resigned after 14 years of service.

Skinner Nurseries has reorganized its management structure, company co-founders Russell R. Skinner and brother Bryant B. Skinner Jr. announced. Russell Skinner will serve as President and Chief Executive Officer, with Bryant Skinner Jr. as Executive Vice President.

Former President Kevin Van Dyke has resigned after 14 years of service. Mr. Van Dyke joined the company in 1994, initially serving as CFO before being promoted to President in 2006.

“Bryant and I are extremely grateful for the accomplishments of Kevin. He worked tirelessly to build Skinner Nurseries into a dynamic landscape distribution enterprise, especially in the areas of sales development, technology and customer service. We wish him the very best in his new endeavors, in which we’re sure he will find great success,” stated Russell Skinner.

Bryant Skinner explained that he and Russell will return to the active management of the company, overseeing the daily operations as well as the continuing expansion of the distribution network. Both men have extensive backgrounds in horticulture, marketing, finance and corporate organization.

“This is a great chance for us to fine tune the direction of the company, and to get ourselves back to the front line action. There are challenges right now in a volatile economic environment, but of course challenges are always loaded with opportunities, and we intend to grab these opportunities,” said Bryant. Skinner cited the shrinking distribution networks of chief competitors as a way to increase Skinner Nurseries’ market share. Russell added that internal promotions of highly qualified personnel would round out the reorganization of the management team.

Skinner Nurseries provides a wide range of plant material from annual color, shrubs, large trees, and palms to a full line of hardlines, including natural stone, pavers, mulch and soil. Skinner Nurseries is the leading supplier of green goods in the South with 21 distribution centers.
