FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — The votes have been tabulated and Sterling Truck Corp., Redford, Mich., is the winner of the second annual Editors’ Choice Award for New Product Innovation.
Ballots of editors who attended the 42nd Annual National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) Convention, Feb. 28 – March 3, and The Work Truck Show 2006, March 1-3, in Atlanta, Ga., determined the winner.
The award recognizes the best new product or product innovation among exhibiting companies participating in the New Product Spotlight and New Product Media Guide programs. Some 63 trade magazine editors were invited to cast a vote, with the exhibitor receiving the highest number of votes declared the winner.
“We were excited to learn that Sterling Truck Corporation launched their new low cab-over-the-engine truck at the show,” said NTEA Executive Director Jim Carney.
The vehicle features popular body options such as dry van, reefer and stake applications. It will be available with a 4.9 liter diesel engine, six-speed automatic transmission and up to five wheelbases to accommodate 12'–20' bodies.
Sterling Truck Corporation’s low cab-over-the-engine truck will be available at select dealerships across North America this spring.

Other winners of 2006 New Product Innovation Awards included MGM Brakes, Charlotte, N.C., and Knaack Mfg. Co., Crystal Lake, Ill.
MGM Brakes won for its e-STROKE® electronic brake monitoring system that offers a patented braking alternative. It checks a brake stroke status electronically. Wheel-specific light-emitting diodes (LED) pinpoint over-stroked or non-functioning brake actuators, as well as dragging brakes.
Knaack Mfg. won the award for its new line of WEATHER GUARD® steel truck boxes with improved features that enhance job site security and productivity. The company also won for its low-profile aluminum truck boxes designed for extra strength and durability to fit new pickup trucks that have higher bed rails.
The Work Truck Show 2007 will be held March 7–9 at the Indiana Convention Center and RCA Dome, Indianapolis, IN. The show will be held in conjunction with the 43rd Annual NTEA Convention March 6–9.
