Ariens Company's AMP WAW is an all-electric wide-area walk behind mower with the same drive and cutting power as a comparable gas-powered mower. The AMP WAW features a 34-inch mowing deck and runs for one hour on a single charge, depending on terrain and grass conditions.
The AMP WAW is powered by three 1.7 HP Brushless DC electric motors (two on mower deck, one for traction motor) and energized by three 48-volt AGM Valve Regulated battery packs. Benefits of the AMP line of electric products include quiet operation, reduced vibration, no gasoline handling or costs, reduced service requirements and no emissions associated with gas-powered engines.
“We’re committed to the development of electric powered product alternatives,” said Dan Ariens, Company President. “The AMP WAW is the second lawn and garden product we are offering to the market.” The AMP Rider, a electric rear-engine riding mower was introduced by the company in spring 2009.
From an operational standpoint, the mower features a simple blade engagement and easy-to-use ground drive controls with instantly variably forward/reverse. The larger deck allows homeowners to reduce mowing time by one-third compared to a standard-sized walk-behind deck.
